    Description

Chavín de Huántar contemporary art is a tribute to the pre-Inca culture that developed in the western and central area of Peru, in the department of Ancash. Chavín is part of the ancestors of Peru. In one of his trips through the Inca country, Karlo visited the archaeological complex of Chavín and was very impressed by what he found. It was a very long journey to reach the ruins of this mysterious Andean temple. A bus trip from Lima to Huaraz. And then seven hours by truck to finally be able to bathe in the ancestors of Peru and delight in its mysteries. This temple is located at 3154 meters above sea level. Chavín was built approximately three thousand five hundred years ago and was an administrative and religious center.

In the painting we see the most representative symbols of the Chavín culture, interpreted in a typical way from Karlo’s art. On a black background, we see the monolithic sandeel (Lanzón monolítico) on the top right. It is a monolith sculpted in granite with a height of 4.54 m. It is located in one of the galleries of the old temple of Chavín. A little lower is a Cabeza clava (nailed head). A kind of sculpture that shows a mixture of feline, snake and bird heads combined with anthropomorph features. The kind of hooks in different shades of gray and one of them in neon orange, allude to the Stele of Raimondi. Another monolith belonging to the Chavín culture.

The elegance that the artist shows in this interpretation is unique. This variation of colors is very dear to Karlo. Once again he presents his great fantasy without overloading his images. We are in front of a modern painting representing one of the oldest civilizations on the continent.

  • About this artist

    Concept

    Barberini Faun from Esslingen
A young man lies carefree and stretched out on rocks. Serenity with a hint of profanity. A mixture that appeals to me very much when you know me and see how I go to parties. This interpretation of the world-famous Barberian faun is how I see it. The young man from Esslingen, who posts for this picture, has a strong connexion to me for the carefree self-portrayal, regardless of the eyes of others. This Barberian faun is colorful and with a very beauty symmetry. Pure sensuality. With the pink penis, I don't want to hide anything. I'm of the opinion that society makes too big a “theater” around the sight of a penis and I would like to contribute with my presentation for more habituation. Penis ist just a body part. For this reason, I did not stick to the traditional rather small staging of the best piece of the man in the size of the penis.

This work made of oil paints and acrylic was one of the most popular at my vernissage in the Stuttgart Café & Vinothek List from March to May 2020. The green background brings the feeling of nature to the painting, after all we are dealing with a faun, the god of nature and the forest.
