    Description

The Salkantay and the moon transport us to the mountains of Peru. The impressive moon that we see at the top is the perfect representation of the moon in the Andes. That night was a moon that illuminated all of Salcantay. The cold from the snow mixed with the warm rays of the moon. Neon-orange completes this expressionist painting of cool colors. With unique tones and very reduced in their variety, Karlo shows us his great fantasy. Those who have visited the Nevado de Salcantay immediately feel transported to the foothills of the Peruvian Nevado. The light is perceived on the snow and in the different shadows it produces on the mountains. An early morning dominated by the brightness of the moon. The blue of the clear sky at dawn makes us feel the cold that was in those nights. This painting shows us the splendid isolation and grandeur of this Andean mountain. This painting gives the feeling of stillness. The silence, the tranquility that is experienced at this point are unique.

In 2019 Karlo went hiking in the mountains of Peru. The five-day trek on this alternative route towards Machu Picchu was an unforgettable experience. The first night in the camp was the coldest. That clear night with the Salcantay in front of the shops with a panoramic view left him so impressed that he set out to express these feelings by painting them. And here we have it and we can feel his experiences and share his thoughts immersing ourselves in this painting. The sensation of the grandeur of Salcantay with its 6300 meters high seen from the tent a few moments before starting the walk. The intensity of the landscape that it shows us is unique.

Oil on canvas is currently Karlo's preferred technique.

  • About this artist

    Concept

    Barberini Faun from Esslingen
A young man lies carefree and stretched out on rocks. Serenity with a hint of profanity. A mixture that appeals to me very much when you know me and see how I go to parties. This interpretation of the world-famous Barberian faun is how I see it. The young man from Esslingen, who posts for this picture, has a strong connexion to me for the carefree self-portrayal, regardless of the eyes of others. This Barberian faun is colorful and with a very beauty symmetry. Pure sensuality. With the pink penis, I don't want to hide anything. I'm of the opinion that society makes too big a “theater” around the sight of a penis and I would like to contribute with my presentation for more habituation. Penis ist just a body part. For this reason, I did not stick to the traditional rather small staging of the best piece of the man in the size of the penis.

This work made of oil paints and acrylic was one of the most popular at my vernissage in the Stuttgart Café & Vinothek List from March to May 2020. The green background brings the feeling of nature to the painting, after all we are dealing with a faun, the god of nature and the forest.
