This painting was made on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the death of the surrealist painter, Salvador Dalí in 2019. The artist is strongly linked to Dalí, but does not directly follow his example in painting. At the same time, in the Destino series there are 3 paintings which pay homage to him (Hommage á SD) with details detached from some of his works, even if elaborated in a way that is alien to Dalí's provocative surrealism. La Riva opposite deals with a theme inspired by mythologies, by universal human thought, contextualized in the image of the river / water and the boat. The title itself alludes to this; Dalí no longer belongs to this land, but we can meet him on the opposite shore, that is, in death. The Destino series created in 2019-2020, to which this work belongs, also reflects the darkness of recent times, expressed with dark shades of blue.
