As I walked through the streets of this small town at the gateway to Andalusia, up Calle Abadia, to go to the bakery "Andrés el Hornero" to buy some rustic bread to eat for dinner, on my left between two rows of white houses there was a wonderful view of the imposing church of the town "Iglesia de la Encarnación". I always have my notebook with me. Considering that the stores here always open late in the afternoon, I had a few minutes to capture some ideas on paper.
That's how, during a hot Andalusian afternoon, my first painting of this trip was born, a work dedicated to Vélez-Rubio, a small town that has remained in my heart also because of the intense scent, almost like honey, of its almond trees in bloom.
