    Description

Work from the series "Mastros" inspired by the homonymous work created in 1915 by the painter Mario Delitala.

Not everyone knows that Sassari, at the beginning of the 1900s, was a wonderful concentration of artists of extraordinary talent.

I imagine that I would have loved to live that period. It would have been an extraordinary experience to be part of that artistic ferment.

A century later, those artists, are still our greatest teachers. Through their works they show us the best way to handle light, the difference between soft and broken lines, the importance of texture, the emotions of colors.

To five of these masters, I wanted to dedicate my first solo exhibition "Mastros". My art as a tribute to all the beauty that we have and that I received from them.

  • About this artist

    Concept

My need to paint comes from an intimate need to tell the story of my land, Sardinia.

I have a visceral love for my island and when you love something in such an intense way you can't help but tell the world about it, you have an extreme need to make it known, to talk about it. I paint it.

Through my works I tell the story of Sardinia, its people, its traditions. My paintings are the result of the emotions that this land transmits to me, when it dresses its traditional clothes handed down from generation to generation, when it wears the masks of its carnival that every year renews ancestral rites whose origins are lost in the centuries, when I meet the faces and the looks of a people who guards a history of 5000 years.

The emotions that this land transmits to me are the basis on which my creative process develops. A process that tends to strip away the superfluous, that demands an essential story both in the compositional form and in the palette of colors, that develops through the use of broken lines and veils, leaving undefined everything that is negligible in order to communicate the pure emotional essence.

The moment the painting is finished and the creative process is over, the work ceases to be mine alone and becomes everyone's. This consideration of it as a work of art stems from the fact that it is not a work of art.
I do not want to describe what it means to me or what it wants to communicate, but I leave to the observer the freedom to find his own meaning by peering through the veils, to recall from his own depth the emotions that can complete the interrupted lines, to draw from his own experience to fill the undefined spaces.

I like, I want, I want my work not to be delimited by my emotions, but on the contrary, to give the observer the opportunity to discover every day in it new aspects, new details and new emotions.
