    Concept

The faces and stories on my portrait paintings are all me and my doubts in the end. Sometimes imbalanced, imperfect, provocative and boycotting, but always sincere and inviting a re-thinking and compassion. My art is triggered by essential topics in anyone's life, like relationships, the meaning of own life, beliefs and religion, parenthood, death...

For me, making art is a way to connect to this world and to the souls of those who question the same things as I do. It is also the means of personal therapy and an own language to speak out.

I love working with monochrome palettes and rougher, uneven surfaces. I normally pre-texture my canvases or use wood panels as a base. To me, a bit of the unsmooth and irregular reflect my personality as an artist and add to the atmosphere I want to convey in a painting.
