Who we truly are can be judged, socially not accepted and can even cost us friends or family members but what do we truly have if we lose ourselves? More importantly, can we truly find happiness and freedom if we hide ourselves and can we find a real connection with others. This painting is artist journey of self-discovery and the moment when one realizes they have to show who they are without compromise. Here artist wants to show not only strong\good side but her fear, weakness, her naughty side. And while every pedal opens slowly, uncovering darker and darker sides of the artist at the end we see the beautiful and unique essence - pearl inside. The woman is showing herself bare, emerging from turbid waters. The water is a coverup for our true self and its home of golden fishes that in Jelena’s paintings always symbolize soul.
