Red Banks
This painting was inspired by the Red Banks of the Liaohe River in China.
Located in the Shuantai Hekou National Reserve, the red beach is one of the most colorful natural attractions in China. The coastline owes its unusual bright color to algae, which die off in the first weeks of September, painting the Liaohe River Delta in rich colors. The Shuantai-Hekou Nature Reserve, in addition to the unusual shades of the coast, is also known as one of the best places in northern China for observing dozens of bird species, including the endangered Japanese cranes that are included in the International Red Book.
