Dr. Annette Schmucker worked as a doctor and was self-taught as an artist. She says of herself: As a self-taught artist, I work with the awareness that I am not obligated to anyone. I do not have to strive for an "individual style" and do not have to paint in a certain direction. The only strict "judge" of my pictures is myself.
This great freedom gives me a lot of space for new picture ideas.
I love the variety in painting and always deal with completely different themes and techniques. Very often I work on many different techniques and pictures at the same time. I do not want to follow a single fixed line.
One thing my pictures have in common is the visual language and expression: My aim is to depict light, width and space.
I work with both concrete and abstract motifs and like to combine both. My inspiration comes from color, shape, proportion and, above all, light. My primary concern is to portray light and space and ultimately a feeling of freedom.
