I thought it was Morpho, butterflies that live in Central and South America. Perhaps, in some miraculous way, some of them accidentally came to us, on another continent. They flew into my veranda and danced around a bouquet of late meadow flowers. And when they sat down, their wings became like nondescript dry leaves. And it reminded me that the summer was long over.
