The idea behind "Reflexion" is our drive for finding who we really are, so i chose a narcissistic representation for that, having a moment of self love and a character posture that can imply the word "power".
I was inspired, like in the other paints of the series, by the Cave Myth, in Platos Republic, about the fact that we don't see the world truthfully, we have cultural, personal and subjective filters that help us perceive the world. We see nothing but a perception, not the absolute truth, we are not capable of comprehending the absolute truth.
I always like to use the best quality materials in my paintings, as a medium i always use a mixture of damar resin, turpentine and linseed oil, these ingredient help the canvas and the pigments to have an elasticity over the years so they won't crack under pressure, and can last hundred of years, just like the baroque and reinassence painters, who used almost the same materials and tehniques as i do in my paintings.
