This piece screams emotion as the white swan pushes herself to the limits, stressing, cracking and fragmenting as she transitions into the black swan.
The gold leaf representing not only the stage centre spotlight, but also rewarding the tenacity and pain endured from many hours of training for the ballerina who worked so hard to have reached this level.
Transition is part of a trio in a collection of ballerina fragments. The other two artworks are "Majestic" and "Equinity". All three pieces have been built up of mixed sculpture media to form the background, then the protagonists layered in Rembrandt oil. Together, these mediums allow the protagonist and the background to merge as one within the artworks, and they make quite a statement in any space.
