In this artwork I was using old and pasty oil paints as a structuring agent in order to breathe life into the painting and to give it a structure, a liveliness.
I was using earth colour tones to show, that we and all living things on earth are made out of the same mud, atoms and proteins. Not a single aunt is different or separated from the rest. If another being is suffering somewhere, it is me that is also suffering. If there is a refugee boat sinking in the mediteranean sea it affects my life no matter if I feel it or not. If the river is polluted by oil or tons of plastic it is my body who is screaming too. One Mother, one Earth, one body, one life. Every life is interwoven with that of the other. A body that sinks into the sea becomes part of the sea and through the food chain, through the water cycle this life becomes ours at some point. We breathe in each other's air. My breath becomes yours. Your fate becomes mine.
