The model, who is of Arab descent, was a woman who looked good with butterflies. I wanted to bring out the best of this lovely woman and express it. This is the theme of my painting. Her red hat and skirt, in contrast to her black clothes, are striking and remind me of roses. I tried to express more glamour by placing a collection of colorful butterflies around her face. I added the dancing rose petals because I wanted to create a dynamic picture with a sense of movement rather than a dull, static one. I think the combination of dark and light colors on the floor gave a tighter impression. I did not want the face to be hyper-realistic, but rather to be a little fantastical and free in its expression. I think the fact that the hat and skirt are different reds is also good for the painting because it is not bound by a sense of unity, and the red is not overemphasized. The work was selected for the 2019 Women Painters' Exhibition.
