Inspired by the Tarot, "O Louco" brings the imagery of hermetic symbolism to the particularity of the artist's universe; here it is no longer just the fable, but the personification and representation of the artist, who dressed in the figure of the Madman, shows himself as the distant being of society and revealed in his self; a dog stalks him, symbolizing the ever-present instinct but removed from the being that has overcome worldly tendencies and thoughts, so the figure shows itself in an environment of nature, and raises one hand to pick a rose, the rose of the ideal of the vocation discovered and exercised.
In this series of paintings that began in 2010, I tried to represent the figure of the enigmatic man and the misunderstood genius using as reference the iconic image present in the tarot cards called "the madman" and intertwining it with the image of the artist who walks in his path of imagination, production and reflection, creating an arc of interpretation through its symbols and relating them to the self of the work's observers.
The scenarios in which the character is allocated will change as if at each screen he was in a land or at a different and particular moment in his life.
The figure of the madman always appears in my mind and I often return to this theme, so the series never ends and always remains open.
