This painting of the Olympus mountain range, made with acrylic and oil, is part of a series that highlights and sacred sites from various cultures and regions.
The artwork has a minimalist design, with an acrylic background that subtly glimmers. I used outlines to depict the range, focusing on two peaks and their largest shadows. The golden disk encircling the summits symbolizes the sun, the divine nature of the location (the home of the 12 gods in ancient Greek mythology) and authority. My intention was to capture the emotions that can arise when reflecting on these mountains, whether from memories of visiting them or from learning about their mythology.
This is a unique piece, though it complements others in the series.
