This painting shows my emotions about the war in Ukraine. I created this artwork during March and April 2022.
Why does it look like that? I drew emotions about my country, which is bleeding.
The background of the painting is a symbol of life in Ukraine before the full-scale invasion of Russia. Red paint on top is a symbol of evil and suffering brought to us. There are no beautiful wounds in the military, aesthetic tortures, civilian killings or rapes.
There is life to death and it continues for those who are now. Therefore, everything under the red paint was carefully painted. I knew I would draw from above, but I painted the background carefully as a symbol of normal life for the war. I worked several stages, it took a few weeks, and then added red on top. Red paint flows down the cells of the canvas like blood. But despite this blood, a new life is breaking through. And life here will win, as well as Ukraine.
