    Description

In a hangar lies the wreck of an airplane showing its skeleton like that of a beached whale. A man watches us with a rocket next to him and at his feet personal items for a summer at the beach.
The hangar no longer has a roof and a warm, searching light illuminates the scene.
The work is inspired by the shooting down of the DC 9 I-Itigi in the skies over Ustica which saw the death of 81 people who went on holiday to Sicily.
The painting is done on canvas with raw pigments and linseed oil.
The work is mounted on a wooden frame, chasses.
Work is part of the "Work" cycle.

  • About this artist

    Concept

For several years now I have been working with different media and artistic typologies, simultaneously carrying out different lines of research both in the pictorial field, where I work in thematic cycles, and in the field of plastic arts, ranging from subtractive sculpture with found stone material, to assemblies and installations. , often combining recycled materials and waste.
In the pictorial cycles the themes are often of a historical-political character and of social denunciation, as in the ""work"" or ""face mask"" cycle with references to the First World War and the Spanish epidemic. The painting technique I use reflects the studies I made on 17th century European painting, both on materials and on operational methodologies.
While in the sculptural works I operate in a less clear way, always dealing with issues of a socio-political nature but through the use of materials, their recovery and transformation. From waste to aesthetic object not for the simple Duschampian ready-made, but for the manual transformation of the object-waste that is transformed into an aesthetic object with manual and re-creative work as in ""Time machine"".
I also like to tackle the site-specific, always stimulating for an artist who has to dialogue with a certain context without imposing his will and ego, with this in mind I worked with the methods of land art in works such as ""Golden fish"". Ultimately I try to make the most of my talent to be able to say and make people reflect on some socio-political and cultural issues."
