Last summer, the ivy vine seen through the window of the artist's studio was so beautiful. It was summer vacation season and children's vacation in hot weather, but it was summer when they only stayed at home without thinking about traveling or going on vacation in the aftermath of coronavirus 19. So she created the URBAN PARADISE, which is enjoyed in the house by painting her favorite tropical plants and intervention plants. And she eagers to communicate with people all over the world.

She intends to provide comfortable rest for the modern people tired in the daily life of the city, and to provide the function of the plants that can bring about the purification of the mind through the work. And it will be a more meaningful and rewarding task for her who studied horticulture, interior view and space design. The work is done through drawing each plant in detail with acrylic and oil color.

Mia Kim is an award-winning South Korean painter whose art has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions nationally, as well as in Japan and the United States. Her works express the daily life of contemporary man, constantly busy in a rapidly changing city. Kim’s narratives are conveyed through simple shapes, vibrant colors and bold lines. She uses both acrylic and oil painting on canvas.

My work aims an artist's own story which is quite personal and descriptive. Small but touching experience felt in everyday life through 「The work looking into myself」. Childhood memories and inner story. This is not just an artist's own story but a self-portrait of everyone living today which is rapidly changing.

Recently through ‘Urban Landscape Project’, I am not just representing loneliness and mind of people today by a foliage plant’s indoor purification and primarily function to watch leaves in indoor space of the dreary city, but working data-on focusing data-on how the space changes when the plants are laid in indoor and outer space.
