For this piece I painted over a painting that once held meaning to me and replaced it with a new beginning. Merging nostalgia, childhood memories and new beginnings together with confident marks and minimal colours. When I had my baby boy I used a grey and white cloud blanket to keep him warm. In this work I wanted to capture my son without the figure being notably present in the painting. Since becoming a mother, I have been on a journey of personal development. It has been a huge learning experience but has also come very natural to me. With loose, painterly brushstrokes, minimal shapes, and colours, I have reflected on a moment of development, achievement, gratitude, and love.
