This painting depicts my favorite dancer, Yako. It captures a momentary movement of Yako, who dances gracefully and daintily, with full awareness of every detail of her body. The monochrome painting may give the impression of a photograph, but up close, you can see the matiere (thickness) unique to oil painting. The artist's paintings are so realistic that you can feel the dynamism of the muscles and the atmosphere that spreads in the space. The blue paint, which looks as if it has been splattered, is layered in different layers, giving a synergistic effect to the painting.
Japan
My paintings use the body as a motif to express movement. I think it's because I've been dancing since I was a child and I've found beauty in my movements. In other words, painting is a physical expression for me.
In recent years, it depicts the movements of everyday people. I believe that moving is living, and that each person is living by following their own dance steps.
