The tree of words
Inks, watercolor, and golden tissues on paper
24x30 cm.
The central part of this painting is a tree-like shape. The treetop consists of overlapping words from many texts of love poetry. It was written with a special Arabic font called ALDIWANI, which is flexible and offers, therefore a lot of freedom.
The lower part of the composition shows a column. Its deep part is a piece of collage that I used gold tissues in. There's also a rotated square that is used to break the monotony of the horizontal and vertical lines.
A different font with a different color was used to the right and left of the central section. The words also overlapped, gradually getting lighter and smaller as the height increased, until they disappear, leaving a space around the crown of the word tree.
It is important to note that in this and any other paintings where I have used golden tissues or golden colors, the paintings show up in different ways due to reflections.
