    Description

    Fire is the most purifying element in the shamanic culture of the nomad people. It cleanses all the negative.

    This artwork was inspired by this element and the natural forces. It is the result of the meditative process. The artist used the traditional calligraphy brush technique and elements of the Mongolian script in a contemporary way to create this piece.

    Concept

    Tamir Samandbadraa Purev is an award-winning artist based in Mongolia whose paintings have been exhibited nationally and abroad in France, Belgium, Germany, China, Iran, and others. His eclectic artistic expression ranges from traditional Mongolian calligraphy to abstract art (drawing, calligraphy, and painting), as well as ceramics (sculpture and ceramic decoration). Tamir's painterly compositions are most often created using Chinese ink on paper.

    Samandbadraa Purev, known under his artist name Tamir, was born in 1976 in Ulaanbaatar in socialist Mongolia to an elite family. Despite his military education, he became a self-taught artist calligrapher. Tamir started his artistic career in the 2000s decade as one of the pioneers in this field in Mongolia. He became a renowned calligrapher gaining recognition at home and abroad. Exhibiting in many countries in Asia and Europe and presenting Mongolian calligraphy to foreigners, he became the carrier of Mongolian cultural heritage, popularizing Mongolia’s unique writing system and culture. Thousands of children, students, and adults in Europe have attended his workshops. He is nowadays one of the leading Mongolian contemporary calligraphers and his calligraphy style became one of the major sources of inspiration and education for Mongolian calligraphy amateurs. In 2018 Tamir founded an NGO “L’Ecrin” or “Erdenesiin Khuree” to protect the Traditional Mongolian Script, education as well as further artistic development and promotion of the art of Mongolian Calligraphy

    What kind of hardware should I use for hanging the artwork?

    • If you are concerned about repayment costs, such as when renting a house, wall pins and hooks that do not leave noticeable hole marks are available at major DIY Store and art supply stores.
    • If you want to hang a canvas with a hook, a hook type with a long hooking surface, such as a V-shaped type is recommended.
    • If there is a string on the back of the canvas or the back of the frame, you can hang it with a pin type that has a short hooking surface.
