Description

The first time I saw an African elephant was at Tama Zoological Park.
The elephants are quite different from the Asian elephants at Ueno, with their large stature, tusks, and wrinkles reminding us of the years they have spent in the wild.
The African sky spread out in the background, and the elephants were staring at us, perhaps thinking of their homeland.
This work reminds us of the days when each of the animals lived in the park, and also of the encounter that crossed their paths.

The model is Ako, who was at Tama Zoological Park.

Concept

Born in 1985 in Tokyo, Japan
Graduated from Nihon University College of Art, Department of Fine Arts, Painting Course
Attracted by the wrinkles and muscles of elephants and rhinoceroses she saw at the zoo, she began to draw ink paintings with animals as motifs.
After graduating, she became involved with and managed many artists and events at a gallery cafe.
In 2017, she became freelance and independent.
She has participated in and planned various events, outdoor exhibitions at a former elementary school
live painting at a zoo, and collaborating with a bag shop.
In recent years, she has been on a round-the-world tour of Japan and Africa as an artist-in-residence on a cruise ship.
