Medusa belongs to the group of primordial deities whose features are associated with the image of the serpent.
One version of the myth: Medusa is a beautiful young girl whom Poseidon falls in love with. Having become a rival to the goddess Athena, Athena decides to punish her and transforms her into a Gorgon. Her hair becomes snakes, and her gaze petrifies all who cross it. Medusa is the only Gorgon to be mortal, more a victim than a villain, and is now considered a protector.
A symbol of feminine power and the power of the gaze, in 2022 Medusa becomes the archetypal femme fatale.
"Medusa Medusa" takes on the features of this Gorgon with the snakes present in this painting, but not only in the hair! Also on the mouth, neck and in the eyes, where a snake's eye can be seen. The integrated texts tell her story, with a conclusion that crowns her mouth. She looks stunned... could Athena's spell be obsolete?
