The theme of "Blue Lights" is blue light, and takes the form of a pretty Eurasian woman with big eyes and long hair. Blue light is all around us and is the visible part of the light spectrum. This painting was created in November 2022, in France, a period when night arrives more quickly around 5pm. As darkness is more prevalent, lighting takes over, hence the use of light bulbs for the painting's midnight-blue background, which in places is metallic blue. The face features phosphorescent and fluorescent elements combined with resin, giving it a supernatural effect. A few coppery, energetic strands take flight. "Blue Lights" looks sideways over her shoulder, as if to wish you a good night.
