Animal skins have been used for centuries to capture history as well as in everyday life, but as far as creating works of art out of them, the potential is far from being fully exploited. The skin is an organic material, it comes from a life. I « transform » it utilizing artistic techniques that give it a second life. After that, time progressively transforms the original texture. Moreover, each skin is unique, which renders the treatment much more delicate, but on the other hand gives a great uniqueness to each creation and thus the impossibility to copy it. These traditional family techniques were passed down from my father, MA Fuliang, an artist, who has resided in Paris for close to 30 years.
