Infinite love... this could have been the other title of the painting and it is what I wanted to represent. The endless love of Jesus, the eternal love.
Expression through symbols:
The Heart: it is of a shape that has neither beginning nor end, which is intertwined three times because it is made up of the Holy Trinity.
I thought it was dazzling, incandescent, with its own light and heat.
It is metallic with a brilliant polish, the shine generates reflections, its own and its surroundings, it symbolizes the relationship of the heart with the world.
The Oculus through which we look: Symbolizes the infinite universe through which we contemplate the subject of the work.
The Crown: I thought of a golden crown of Christ the King (leaf) circular surrounding the eye, the universe, it is broken representing pain, thorns. Pain is empty, it is the absence of form, it symbolizes the transformation of pain into salvation, into life.
The Tetramorphs: they are the figures that are in the corners of the painting. They represent the four evangelists, the Man is Matthew, the Bull is Luke, the lion is Mark and the Eagle is John.
Language and Technique:
In both technique and language I am interested in uniting two worlds separated in time: For example, the Tetramorphs are part of an iconography of Roman art, in this work represented with a current language.
Something similar happens in the technique, the Heart is made with two-layer paint of those used to paint cars and the Crown with gold leaf, which is an ancient technique.
I found it interesting to unite these two worlds separated in time with a common denominator in the message.
