    Description

I painted fish I encountered on a trip to Laos. Using a technique unique to Japanese painting called rubbing leaf, the entire screen is lavishly covered with pure gold leaf in this vivid work. The work is painted on wooden panels covered with Japanese paper, using iwa-enogu (mineral pigments) and gold and platinum leaf. The unique and powerful life in the big river is expressed all over the screen. This work was selected for the Salon d'Automne.

  • About this artist

    Concept

While using traditional Japanese painting techniques as the basis of my work, I continue to create contemporary art based on a free interpretation of the theme of the hymn to life, which is at the root of Buddhism, and a sense of color that I have acquired from my travels in Japan and abroad, especially in Asia. Nepal, where I studied Tibetan esoteric Buddhism painting and mandala under the guidance of a local Buddhist painter after graduating from university, is an important place that has become the foundation for everything I do today. I spent my childhood in France, where I realized the power of art beyond words and decided to become a painter. Since then, painting has been my greatest communication tool. The painting materials I use are mainly Japanese paper, mineral pigments such as iwa-enogu (mineral pigments), gold leaf and sumi ink, all of which are of natural origin and have been used in Japan since ancient times. By depicting the lives that continue to shine in the great flow of nature, I create works that encourage the viewer's heart and give him or her the energy to take another step forward.
