An original mineral painting, made with 24k gold, crushed minerals (natural and synthetic), oyster shells (calcium carbonate) and gold-coated mica on Japanese paper mounted on a wood panel. Because these substances consist of unique chemical and physical properties, every artwork has unique characteristics with a sense of connection to the earth. It is highly textured with a matt and rich sand-like appearance.
This is the second of the 'Golden City' series, a smaller version. What originally inspired the artist to paint was the cityscapes of Jaisalmer. Jaisalmer is a city in India known as the “golden city” that gleams in gold-like colors at sunset. The city shimmered like a piece of gold jewelry, reminded Mitsumori of jewelry that retains its shine even after a thousand years. She felt a strong desire to capture them in paintings and set out to do so. Presents the sceneries seen through her eyes in an art form.
In mint condition, Certificate of Authenticity included and calligraphy seal in front, hand-signed at the back. Sold unframed and ready to hang (eye bolt and string mounted at the back).
