Inhaling, exhaling, putting my hand on his chest, checking his heartbeat, the fact that he is alive is, somehow, strange. The artist has applied red, blue, and yellow paint in droppings, then black paint, then a pattern in white ink on top of the black paint. The composition is the same as Spring, a series that abstractly expresses the energy of life overflowing outward from within the body, but this work focuses on the specific image of life, especially breathing. In addition, the artist has turned from the technique of drawing detailed patterns using only a black pen to explore a wider range of expression by using red, blue, and white ink. The panels are used vertically to create the image of "growing upward.
