Description

These are one-of-a-kind original paintings. Using familiar plants and creatures as motifs, I work on the theme of the fragility and beauty of life. Techniques include watercolor, copperplate, woodcut, collagraph, acrylic, digital, and mixed media collage using these techniques. The area shown in the main image is 23 cm, but there is a small margin outside the image.

Concept

Kaji Yoco paints a small world that can only be seen by staring at it.
He paints in abandoned gardens, vacant lots, bushes, and other places where people don't interact, because these places are full of life.

The works are painted in acrylic over watercolor with copper etchings, woodcuts, and collagraphs.
Collages of Photoshop-edited images of previous works are used to create a cycle of life in which one work is reborn in the next, like the cycle of life of plants, insects, and other small creatures.
