Pure encaustic, hot wax, and pigments on OSB. 2020.
A portrait of an Arab man I met in Cesky-Krumlov during my vacation in the Czech Republic. We spoke in English: he lived and worked there and supported his family living in the homeland. He is the Narrator, his origin story inspired this artwork.
In recent years, I have used OSB as a basis. By retracting the paint layers, I use the texture of the veneer as part of my compositions to create a unique rustic industrial atmosphere. Due to the OSB plate, these artworks are heavy.
The painting is made with self-made paint, which basically consists of pigments and beeswax. Does not contain oil or other paints.
The procedure itself dates back to antiquity and has been known for thousands of years. Only a few artists around the world work with wax on their own.
The encaustic is equipped with a simple wooden exhibition frame, which harmonizes with the industrial style of the painting and highlights it well. Ready to hang!
This work will be delivered with Care Instructions for my encaustic paintings and a signed certificate of authenticity. Carefully packaged and tracked shipping. I ship this work in cardboard boxes carefully wrapped in bubble foil and protect the painting with cardboard.
