It is a work about cliffs, water and skies.
The artist was and he still is very much impressed with the blue, quiet waters of this place. The rocks fall into the blue sea and glitter in yellows, red and oranges bringing forth the grays against the blue skies of Sorrento. The rendition of the sky is reminiscent of the the ancient illustrations of heaven, seen as the bode, as Nut, the goddess-mother of the sky, the vault of the heavens, arched over the earth and the sea.
The whole dramatisation is centred in the contrats between the almost white horizon that becomes a deep bleu in the foreground.
