    Description

This artwork is based on my study of encaustic and colour. | Encaustic and latex on watercolour paper |
The universe of colours is very rich and complex. Working to construct the tones and understand how they act and converse within the painting is a process that demands constant attention — the balance between the intuitive force and logical reasoning. When colours are thought to compose an abstract painting, they bring another meaning to the whole, and should be seen as a phenomenon of living experience. When I paint, I awaken what is "dead" through the colours in order to present a simulacrum of life and non-life.
The white latex is used as a support for the encaustic in the medium, as a light that works as a supporting element and base for the appearance of colours, expressly belonging to its determinations, as a force that reveals and manifests tonalities.

    Concept

I seek to create portals and materialize the organic beings that inhabit my unconscious, as a way of getting more in touch with the different pluriverses that exist in me. I study a lot of surrealist references for these works, as it is the movement that represents the pure psychic automatism, which happens in the absence of any control exercised by reason, outside of any aesthetic or moral concern (the true function of thought).
The study of colours is one of the main technical pillars of my research and artistic production. In which I try to understand the identity of colour and its constructions as a phenomenon of consciousness — and of science. Allowing the images of the works to emerge through the very essence of light in communion with colour. The universe of colours is very rich and complex. Since colour is light and light is energy, the work of building pigments becomes a way of recording and experiencing the energies of colours, which makes the work more symbolic. Through the chromatic experience it is possible to understand that different colours provide specific moods, are stimulating, alive and active. Colour puts the eye and the spirit in unison with itself.
Together with these two syntheses of my work, I started my research on encaustic. At first about the cold encaustic process and its unfoldings. At the moment, my research with this technique revolves around the application of heat over cold encaustic, observing how the mixture of wax and turpentine react to hot elements, to different temperatures and gestures. It is a process that demands time and attention with a focus on the present moment; these being the essence of the work itself. Through the encaustic process, it is possible to create the most diverse textures, bringing a materiality to the work that transcends the plane of the medium used and creates a solid and symbolic sensation for the atmospheric idea.
