The painting Dream and Memories is part of the collection ''On Us - Frankly'' by Bulgarian artist Nikolinka Dimitrova. The artist has dedicated it to those moments in our lives when our consciousness hangs lost between the future and the past, between building plans and regretting the past. This whole oscillating process of floating is eloquently shown here. This is what happens to us when we don`t live in the present moment. We`re half asleep, half aware, letting life pass us by. Stuck between realities, while really not living, while our lack of desire and will to be more focused gets the best of us.
''On Us - Frankly'' is a bold and vivid exhibition by Bulgarian artist Nikolinka Dimitrova. It depicts what is most delicate, flawed and vulnerable in our human nature in a most straightforward way. The artist contemplated the idea of the collection for a long time before undertaking the journey of creating it. Her goal was to show basic thought provoking archetypes with deep human resonance that anyone can relate to irrelevant of what they do for a living, where they live , what their education or family status is, etc. The naked body with all of its vulnerability is the perfect instrument to symbolise these innermost behavioural models.
