"Sur la piste des éléphants" is painted in gouache on white cardboard measuring 46x61cm. At first glance, our attention is drawn to a soothing sky-blue background, topped by a large water-lily leaf resembling a cathedral stained-glass window on the right of the painting. In the center of the composition, three black-haired women captivate the viewer: an American Indian, a European and a Tibetan, each sporting distinctive cultural accessories. To the left, an elephant and her calf, dressed in beautiful fabrics and with their bodies painted, seem to be strolling in harmony with the women. Small, richly adorned Russian matriochkas add a touch of folklore to the picture, while fruit and flowers scattered here and there bring a fresh, lively touch to the whole work. The combination of these heterogeneous elements creates a mystical and colorful atmosphere, inviting the viewer to escape into a universe imbued with poetry and cultural diversity.
