    Description

Every spring, Yakushiji Temple, a World Heritage site in Nara, holds the Shibatō Daigoma event. The event is held every spring at Yakushiji Temple, a World Heritage Site in Nara, to answer the prayers of the faithful by burning down the banners (gomagi) that contain the wishes of the people. The shugendo practitioners chant sutras and pray with all their hearts. At that time, the flame rises toward the sky like a dragon. This is a digital painting that represents such a moment. In addition, this work was created for the Florence Biennale by pasting large prints of paper onto two wooden panels, which can be joined together using metal fittings.

  • About this artist

    Concept

Shigeru K's world is a hymn to humanity and a hymn to nature. Happiness exists and is beautiful in people's daily lives. People are moved by the beauty of nature. This is the driving force behind the world he paints. He believes that by using simple colors and creating works with impact, many people can share his happy world.
Shigeru K works primarily with digital handmade painting prints, pen, marker and colored pencil drawings, and mixed media sculptures.
Shigeru K's visual expression is an accumulation of work that repeatedly reconstructs his inner world. Shigeru K has developed his own unique way of expressing his images. He first finds something special that attracts him in ordinary everyday scenes and nature, and paints as he goes. He pursues precise shapes and chooses vivid colors. He enhances what is important in the real world around us, genuinely embracing the stories they tell and cutting away the useless parts. It is a process of discovery and rediscovery.
Shigeru K's sculptures graphically redefine the shapes that fascinate us. The artist graphically expresses the various forms of this world. The connection between the obvious and Shigeru K's clever concealment increases reality and results in compositions that captivate the mind.
Shigeru K expresses the heart and joy of childhood that we all have; Shigeru K cleverly conveys the smiling happiness that characterizes humanity and nature. His lively digital prints and acrylic paintings remind us of events we have all experienced at one time or another, and make the people depicted full of charm. Each visual snapshot, full of sentiment and nostalgia, passes through the space of time and takes us back to the tender and sympathetic days of our inner childhood.
