    Description

This painting is soft but serious. It evokes a quite and restful liberation from the noise of the day. One is allowed to get lost in and rise above the every changing currents of the world's worries, stresses, differences, and conflicts.

Walnut ink, sumi ink, minerals, pigments, graphite powder, oyster shell, sliver leaf, fools gold, paper scraps, collage mitsumata, on mulberry paper mounted to panel

Psychologically. Environmentally. I explore our humanity and our inhumanity in relation to the self, to one another, and to our surroundings.
I communicate through painting, collage, audio, and moving image. In painting and collage, formally inspired by Nihonga, a 19th century Japanese method of painting, I use natural and synthetic materials that are subjected to trauma by crushing,
