Polyptych (4 x 1) This series, entitled [Viva La Vida], began in the late 2000s and consists mainly of polyptychs on paper. Viva La Vida] could be affiliated with Pop Art or Naïve Art. The artist celebrates life in a very colorful way. It's a free mechanism for associating ideas on paper. Sometimes based on a particular theme (in this case, Asia, especially Japan), the artist lets his intuition unfold as the work progresses. We can refer here to the following artists: James Rizzi, John Alcorn and Friedensreich Hundertwasser. Patrick Gourgouillat uses acrylics, felt-tip pens, graphite, pencils, ballpoint pens...

Concept

patrick gourgouillat -p.g.- is a French painter. He grew up in the south of France, and has lived in Paris, Prague (Czech Republic) and Berlin (Germany). As a teenager, he trained in silkscreen printing at the Beaux-arts d'Avignon, and in 1997 enrolled at Berlin's Freie Universität, where he studied theater and theology.

patrick gourgouillat -p.g.- began exploring pictorial art in earnest in 1995. In Berlin, where he lived at the time, he frequented the Tacheles squat and several Berlin workshops. Little by little, he forged his own artistic universe: eclectic, changing, tender and cruel.
