Between the Shadows is inspired by the changing of the seasons. Every fall, I am grateful for the chance to see the brilliant colors of the leaves, because it isn't often that you get to see such a wild transformation unfold before your eyes.
Transformation within ourselves can be difficult, and it often takes time and persistence. But when someone is in the process of transformation, they have a chance to become something better, and that can be intensely beautiful.
In this painting, the blue colors evoke the emergence of the sky between the bare branches of the trees, while the bright orange and yellow and gold colors call to mind the fleeting colors of the leaves and the glorious transformation that is all around us and within us.
