I make a white base on a wooden panel and paint directly on it. Although I usually paint only abstract paintings, I was inspired in Kyoto by "nihonga" (Japanese-style painting) and the exquisite and beautiful designs of kimono and obi patterns, Japanese patterns, and family crests, which I incorporated into my own painting style to develop a series in the style of nihonga. This series of works was created for a solo exhibition in Kyoto. It is a painting of a woman applying lipstick, who is about to go out on an outbound makeup. Although there are Japanese paintings that were influenced by and used as references, the composition, setting, and design of the paintings are based on original ideas, and are not homages to Japanese paintings. The sides of the panel are taped with black tape.
