The "akkun" is a kind of inner child, a part of Kumagai's childhood that still retains memories and traumas from his own childhood even as an adult. While people are constantly changing, the influences of their childhood experiences and environment survive inside them. Kumagai created this new work based on his view of the inner child as a symbol of "transmigration," the interweaving of all life.
