    Description

I create works of art based on the beautiful nature that seems to have stopped time: the sea, land, lakes, minerals, etc. Nature is the result of a series of miracles. It is also a miracle and a coincidence that we can recognize it as beautiful. I hope that my works using such nature as a motif will give us a chance to recognize and appreciate the preciousness of the self again. This work captures the beauty and mystery of nature. Inspired by the hot spring fields of Kusatsu Onsen, this work depicts a volcano, or hot spring, a blessing of the earth, running down a rock covered with green algae. The title of this work is derived from the word Mitama, meaning "spirit. The word "Spirit" has the general meaning of the spirits of gods and ancestors, but in ancient Japanese it also means "boon" or "thanks. The way the hot spring is created by the heat deep within the earth and heals people is like a gift from the earth, or God.

  • About this artist

    Concept

I paint beautiful nature where I feel as if time has stopped. I believe that time is a limited and precious thing that cannot be increased even if we wanted to. With this in mind, I have noticed that when I look at nature, I feel as if time has stopped. I started creating artworks with the idea of expressing this mysterious feeling. As I was creating the work, a question came to mind. Why do we feel that beautiful nature is beautiful? I thought that nature itself did not change its shape and form so that people would perceive it as beautiful when they see it, but that it is all made by coincidence. The beauty of nature is only possible when we are programmed to perceive it as beautiful. Both nature and we are the result of a series of coincidences. I believe that by touching these works, we can discover the mystery and significance of our being here now.
