Concept

The concept of Ula Shibazaki's "Pondering Seeds of Hope" is to create an environment to plant and nurture "seeds of hope". For the past ten years, Ula Shibazaki has been showing her new works at a solo exhibition every spring. She creates her works over the course of a year, being fascinated by the growth process of flowers, leaves, and trees that she sees every day. She is also fascinated by the changes in light and shadow brought by climate conditions. Just as a plant changes little by little, all kinds of experiences bring back to life the colors and shapes of things that lie dormant deep within her. The place where she currently resides, Shonan, and the external and internal changes she undergoes daily as she is nurtured, influenced. Her work is expressed in the form of Botanical Abstract or Floral Abstract. However, it is not an end point, but rather a new development that depends on how the viewer chooses to display and use the artwork. The top, bottom, left or right side on the original could be determined by the owner of the artwork. For that purpose, the artist's signature is intentionally written on the back of the original. She also creates and offers goods based on the concept of "seeds of hope". She hopes to nurture "seeds of hope" together with the viewer and the owner of the artworks to be.
