Flights to New York are either direct or cargo flights via Anchorage. It takes half a day from Narita. Once you enter Anchorage airspace, a silvery-white world spreads out below you. One of my favorite sights, the contrast between the blue sky and white is superb. At midnight, a world of aurora borealis, a curtain of veils, spreads over the route. New York has had a historic tragedy with terrorism. For our friends whose mission is to make the skies safe, it is never acceptable. I painted a peaceful Manhattan sunset. Metallic giclee technique.
