    Description

Shurijo Castle is a symbolic castle of Okinawan history and culture; it was registered as a World Heritage Site in December 2000. It was destroyed by fire in 2019. Reconstruction work is still underway. Shurijo Castle has passed through many eras and has come to the present day with the flow of the times. I believe that many people have various feelings about it. We have painted Shuri Castle and Shisa with the meaning of the reconstruction of Shuri Castle. I sincerely hope that the day will come when we can actually see both of them.

    Concept

Sisa is a painter from Japan. She paints pictures of Shisa every day with the goal of creating cheerful and joyful pictures for both the viewer and herself. There are many things happening around the world, in Japan, and in my own immediate surroundings every day. While happy and joyful things happen, sad and angry things also happen. I hope that when you feel negative, you can look at my paintings and be released from your negative feelings, even if only a little. She is very fond of painting Shisa. Shisa is a guardian god that drives away misfortune, which is often seen in Okinawa prefecture in Japan. She is not sure why she likes Shisa so much, but she finds them fascinating. She paints her favorite Shisa in various colors, sizes, and patterns. She also changes the backgrounds from time to time, which allows her to look at one object, the Shisa, from different angles. I draw every day with a pen on a 100 x 148 mm postcard. I then post them on Instagram. Before, she used to draw only postcard artwork. However, she wanted to expand her painting activities so that more people could see her world and her works. She then started to paint larger paintings with acrylics, which are a bit larger than her postcards. It was this acrylic painting that she exhibited at 100 People 10. I often paint postcards at once because I aim to complete one postcard a day. On the other hand, I can paint an acrylic painting for days and enjoy the changes in the picture. I like both painting on daily postcards and acrylic painting. There are many techniques she has yet to try. I would like to continue to challenge various techniques and ways of expression without changing one theme of Shisa. I would like many people around the world to see my Shisa. Thank you very much for your cooperation.
