Description

With the scent of lilac, whose branches sway in the wind and seem to disappear from the pictorial space in abstract patches of white and red squares, the space of memory opens up to the viewer, flooded with sunlight. In this space there are two figures - he and she, a moment of love story.
The flowering lilac branches in the centre of the composition are painted realistically yet expressively. The lilac has become an occasion for memories. Small flowers, like pixels, gather and become squares whose rhythms organise the dynamics that create the exciting mood of pleasant memories.
The painting is done in mixed media with acrylic, ink, graphite and watercolour on heavy 600-gram watercolour paper.
The painting is not framed.

Concept

Galia Rude is a German-based artist whose paintings have been exhibited and sold in Germany as well as in Italy, China, Bulgaria, Vietnam, England and Switzerland. Her latest works deal with the themes of time, the universe and human as the unit of the universe, who can bring progress and harmony as well as chaos and destruction to the world.

Inspired by Vassiliy Kandinsky, Franz Mark, August Macke, and Pablo Picasso, Galia Rude’s work reflects contemporary art and current contemporary themes. She combines cubism, expressionism and symbolism with her motifs and themes. Emotions and impressions of what is happening in the modern world, but also dreams of an ideal future give the artist impulses for her art. The artist’s creative process combines the intuitive approach of expressionism with the logic of cubism. Galia Rude's paintings always hold a secret the viewers can decipher in their own ways.

In Galia Ruda's paintings the viewer is shown portals into a parallel world where fantasy is mixed with reality. The images that emerge in these worlds become symbols, such as the "eye" - a symbol of knowledge and discovery of truth, and the "staircase" – a symbol of an advancement on the path to perfection.

Experiencing what is happening in the world today, the artist applies the means of artistic expression to emotionally and figuratively express her attitude to the occurring events. She contrasts the chaos of the modern world with the harmony of the Universe - the harmony that humanity lacks. In her series "In the Space of Time" Galia paints fantastic landscapes, in which space resembles a moving substance that reflects various geometrical figures and symbols, reflecting thus human traces and spiritual quests. In the series of paintings „Time to Overcome”, the artist reflects on the meaning of human life and its fragility, as well as on freedom and human choice.
