    Description

The dragon is a guardian deity in the ancient Chinese belief of the four directions and four gods.
In Japan, the dragon is also a legendary creature.
It is a symbol of good fortune and the fulfillment of one's wishes.

In addition, in the ancient Chinese philosophy of the five elements, which is a philosophy of nature, the dragon is said to be a symbol of the five elements.
The five elements are fire, water, wood, metal, and earth.
    The black dragon is "water.
The black dragon, which governs water, is said to be blessed with the power to ward off fire.
Although the black dragon is sometimes depicted with an evil image
The color black is a color that is made up of all kinds of colors.
Therefore, it can be said that it encompasses everything.

My image of the black dragon is that of an adorable figure that is receptive and protects the north.
In my right hand, I have also firmly placed a jewel that has the power to make wishes come true.
I hope that the black dragon will watch over those who are striving toward their wishes and thoughts, and give them a boost.
I hope that the dragon will watch over those who are striving toward their wishes and thoughts, and give them a boost.

Though we cannot see them, we are connected.
It is precisely because we cannot see each other that we are so dear to each other.
I have been creating works on Japanese themes such as "all things in the universe," "flowers, birds, wind, and the moon," "the five elements of yin-yang," and "the 24 solar terms.
I want to connect with them in this painting.

  • About this artist

    Concept

About 10 years ago, I published a book describing my experiences visiting the most famous shrine in Japan, Ise Jingu, and 125 related shrines. I also became interested in ancient Japanese mythology in which the deities of these shrines appear, and have now visited over 200 shrines. Through this experience, I have come to embrace the ancient Japanese concept that all things in the forest are inhabited by gods.

I also draw inspiration from the primitive shapes of Jomon pottery, the rich design of the Rimpa school, and the flat landscapes depicted in the ukiyoe prints of the Edo period.

I love fashion and want to use beautiful patterns and colors in my work. I want to fill the world with love through layers of beautiful colors and express the fact that we are not alone.
