In The Polar Bear Bear King Dreams, the polar bear sleeps, the sun setting behind him. Polar bears are masters at conserving energy and rest or sleep a good part of their day. They do so almost 90% of the day when waiting for the sea ice to form. What would this great bear dream about? Perhaps, memories of a great hunt, the open ice and northern lights.
The Polar Bear King Dreams is a new artwork in my Polar Bear King Series, a series of black, white and metallic gold acrylic paintings that show a polar bear face against a stylized, simplified sun.
There is always a story to my Polar Bear King paintings. The imagined emotion on the bear’s face, the placement of the bear in relation to the sun, and the artwork’s title all contribute to that story.
This is an acrylic painting on canvas, but can also be considered a mixed media artwork as there is graphite drawing, too. Metallic gold paint plays a large part as it symbolizes the richness of nature, the royalty of the apex predator bear. It also symbolizes climate change and our warming planet.
It is 6" h x 12” w x .75" deep canvas. The edges are painted gold. It is wired and ready to hang. A Certificate of Authenticity is supplied.
